Apple’s iPhone X Faces the Music

This week, tech fans across the world gathered around their screens to watch Apple unveil its new range of products, including its latest premium phone, the iPhone X, which costs £1,000 (Yes, ONE THOUSAND POUNDS!)

And while it’s a pretty snazzy-looking phone that will no doubt see fans over the world queue around the block for the chance to purchase this year’s “must-have”, many took issue with the removal of the phone’s physical fingerprint scanner, with Apple replacing it with a 3D facial detector, creatively named Face ID.

Iphone xWith fans uneasy over the new unlock procedure, Apple executive Craig Federighi took to the stage and attempted to ease their minds, proving how easy the new method was…but failed spectacularly when the new technology didn’t work!

Mercilessly mocked on Twitter, as you’d expect, Federighi was passed a backup phone which worked flawlessly, all while Apple’s PR team sat backstage, no doubt with their heads in their hands thinking of how they can salvage Face ID’s reputation.

Their strategy? Blame other Apple staff!

An Apple spokesperson told Yahoo: “People were handling the device for stage demo ahead of time, and didn’t realise Face ID was trying to authenticate their face. After failing a number of times, because they weren’t Craig, the iPhone did what it was designed to do, which was to require his passcode. Face ID worked as it was designed to.”

It’s nice to know the new multi-million pound invention worked too well, but let’s be honest – we’d all still prefer a fingerprint scanner, right?
